Irene Virginia Oakes, age 86 of Redwood passed away on September 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Richardson Oakes; infant son, Stanford Leslie Oakes; parents, Jacob and Etheleen Wright. She is survived by her children, Denise Smith, Sheila Witt and Darrell Oakes; grandson, Melvin Walker III. Irene was a nurse for 30 years at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She loved to grow flowers and enjoyed canning. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
