Services honoring the life of Ronald Joe Fleetwood will be held 10 AM Tuesday, September 9, 2020 at the Broken Arrow United Indian Methodist Church, 20854 E 141st S, Broken Arrow, OK.
Internment with military honors will be presented by his tribe, "The Muscogee Creek Nation". The Color Guard" will be under the direction of Thomas Yahola, which will follow services at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Ok.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm, Monday September 7, 2020 at the Bixby River Crest Chapel, Bixby Funeral Services, 13307 S. Memorial Dr., Bixby, Ok.
Ronald "Joe" Fleetwood was born in Bixby, Oklahoma on October 29, 1933 and left this world on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the age of 86. Ronald was the son of George and Mary (Grayson) Fleetwood. Ronald came from very humble beginnings but through hard work and determination he successfully worked to provide a very good life for his family.
Joe met his soulmate and the love of his life, Hilda Ozell (Haywood) Fleetwood, just prior to serving in the Army. The couple were married June 21, 1952 at the Nogales Avenue Baptist Church in Tulsa, Ok.
Joe and Hilda lived in and around the Tulsa area all their years together. In 1970 they made their final home in Collinsville, Ok. And were faithful members of the Collinsville First Baptist Church for many years.
Joe and Hilda celebrated 59 years of marriage June 21, 2011.
Ronald Fleetwood was a man of strength and amazing determination, exhibited throughout his life.
He Proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. His joy for hunting was evident in one story regarding, him and some fellow soldiers, who while hunting pheasant in Korea later found they had walked across a minefield! Fortunately the ground was frozen!
Joe's strength and perseverance was also exhibited after a hunting accident in which he had to jump from a railroad track, crushing both ankles. After numerous months in the hospital, he was told by his Drs. That he would never walk again.
Joe's strong determination proved them wrong as he not only walked out of the hospital but also excelled in Bowling, Water Skiing, and Golf.
His granddaughter Angela Woolsey shared a story of her witness of him scoring a hole in one at the Flint Ridge Golf Course, near their resort property by the Illinois River. As an accomplished bowler ,Joe and Hilda spent many years bowling, participating in various traveling leagues that required a bowling average above 200.
The Fleetwood's were world travelers, traveling much of Europe, as well as the United States and they always enjoyed many years spending time in the outdoors with their children Barbara and Danny.
Joe was one in a million in his various abilities! He was an outstanding Welder and retired from the McKissick Company involving production in the gas and oil industry.
Joe Fleetwood was not only Strong and determined but also caring and compassionate as many times he and Hilda took family members into their home and always helped to provide for family members making certain their needs were met.
Ronald Joe Fleetwood will be greatly missed by many, but His life will carry on in the memories of each nephew, niece, grandchild, and others that he has touched!

Great Grandchildren Elijah Woolsey, Paisley Woolsey; Sister-in-law Lena Wind of Okemah Ok, and many Nieces, Nephews and exstended family and friends.
