Her paternal grandparents were John Hampton Aycock and his wife Clara Perry, of Cabarrus County, and her maternal grandparents were David Leonidas Beachum and his wife Elizabeth Irene Austin, of Anson County, NC. She had one sister, Ethel Marie Aycock (1904-1988, Mrs. W. Allen Biles).
