Following her graduation from Hustontown High School she was employed at Penn Hall Girls School in Chambersburg. Manor Building where she resided at Menno Haven, was previously Penn Hall Girls School.
She was born March 25, 1929 to Ira Russell Daniels and Edna (Reeder) Daniels. Her father passed away and her mother remarried Eugene Leedy.
She married J. Elwood Appleby December 31, 1949, at Hagerstown. She was a dedicated Christian and homemaker for her husband of 45 years and her children, Jack and Nancy Appleby Horne. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Jack E. Appleby and wife, Judy, Waterfall; four grandsons: Philip R. Horne and wife, Brandi, Shippensburg; Patrick E. Horne and wife, Jaime, Orbisonia; Jonathan M. Appleby, Chambersburg; and Joshua D. Appleby and wife, Rachel, York, Pa.; 12 great grandchildren: Shian, Ginny and Parker Appleby, Brayden, Asher and Lainey Horne, and Paxton, Quinn, Reagan, Sullivan, Truman, and Upton Horne; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Russell Daniels, in 1934; her mother, Edna (Reeder) Daniels Leedy; her husband, J. Elwood Appleby; her stepfather, Eugene Leedy; her daughter, Nancy E. Appleby Horne; her son-in-law, Ronald E. Horne; a sister, Betty J. Doyle; and a brother, Eugene H. Daniels.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with Chaplain Brenda Doyle officiating. Interment will be made at Center Cemetery, Waterfall. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Saturday.
