He was a graduate of Baylor University, earning his B.A. in 1954 and his LL.B. in 1959 after serving as lieutenant in the US Air Force. He taught at Mercer School of Law before returning to teach at Baylor School of Law, where he worked until his passing.
He was survived by his parents Fred E. Brown and Emeline (Glaspy) Brown of Houston, his wife Patsy (Clark) Brown, his daughter Suzanne, his grandparents Dr. and Mrs. George F. Brown and his grandmother Mrs. Miles Durham Glaspy.
