Bryson City - Dorothy Mae Breedlove Burnett, 80, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at her residence. Born Feb. 1, 1927 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sara Cabe Breedlove. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Odell and Billy Breedlove; sisters, Helen Waldroup and Wanda Whisnant; and her husband, UZ Burnett.
She is survived by her children, Pat Simons and her husband, Earl, Bill Burnett and his wife, Bunny, Judy Burnett and Becky Nunnaley and her husband, Bob; sister, Dean Corbin of Franklin; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and special caregivers, Jason Whisnant and Candie Burnette Cloer.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul R. Sale officiating. Burial will be in the Grave Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tony Simons, Jason Whisnant, Donald Guge, David Lemons, Jody Whisnant and Phil Cook.
