Mr. Edwin McCumber, age 72, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. He was born in Reidsville on August 12, 1948 to Lewis and Annie McCumber and lived in Tattnall County for many years before moving to Lyons in 1985. Mr. Edwin worked for Pike Electrical for 18 years before he started his construction business, McCumber Enterprises, Inc. He loved to fish, and he attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Reidsville. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert McCumber, L.R. McCumber, Thomas Eldred McCumber, Jerry Dean McCumber, Louise Durrence, and Nell Yeomans.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Jean McCumber of Lyons; daughter, Melanie McCumber Hart of Lyons; siblings, Walker McCumber of Savannah, Henry McCumber of Vidalia, Ralph McCumber of Ellabell, Faye Wilson of Savannah, Frances Thompson of Jesup, and Vickie Fanning of Reidsville; grandson, Mark McCumber Hart of Lyons; numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid Virus, the family will have a private graveside service on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Reidsville City Cemetery.
