Marji May Barron was born on May 8, 1914, in Combs, Arkansas, a little town in Madison County in the northwest part of the state. She was the youngest of the five children of Gustavious Adolphus Barron (1854-1936) and Edna Carter (1873-1933):
Zoe Meadors 1895-1939
Fred Barron 1897-1981
Mary Guin 1899-1972
Gussie Miller 1905-1974

Her father Gus and mother Edna were prominent citizens there. Gus was a merchant and postmaster for many years, and they lived in a spacious home.

Marji was married twice:
Hunter Shields Charleton, Jr. (7/24/1908-4/29/1971)
Alfred Leggett Hildner, on 1/9/1975

Marji and Hunter had one child, Hunter Shields Charleton III, b.7/16/1933. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Monterey, CA on 3/5/1970.

Marji and her husband Alfred died together in an auto accident on 9/27/1976, returning home from a fishing trip. The following news report appeared in the Californian, on September 28, 1976: "Arcata - A Salinas couple was killed yesterday morning when the car in which they were riding collided head-on with a logging truck on U.S. 101 between Orrick and Trinidad. The California Highway Patrol said Alfred L. Hildner, 67, of 97 Gardenia Dr., Salinas, was driving southbound on U.S. 101 with his wife Marjorie, 62, when the 6am accident occurred. Hildner's car crossed over the center line for an unknown reason and struck a northbound logging truck driven by Gary Bare, 23, of Arcata, according to the CHP. Bare was not injured. The Hildners were taken to Mad River Hospital in Arcata, then removed to Paul's Funeral Chapel, Arcata. Their bodies are being transported to Struve and LaPorte Funeral Home for funeral arrangements."
