William Oliver "Bill" Scott of Grandview, WV received his release from this present world on Wednesday April 27, 2016 following a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Mr. Scott was a retired coal miner and farmer. He was a resident of Grandview all of his life. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, and will be missed by many.
He was born on August 27, 1928 in Grandview, WV to the late Jubal Earl Scott (1886-1961) and Lula Grace Adkins-Scott (1893-1940). In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John "Skeet" Brown (Deceased); a grandson, SSGT Jeremy Brown (Deceased); seven sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria "June" Hylton-Scott (B. 1934) whom he married on May 28, 1953 in Piney View, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1953, Page 422, Application Date: May 4, 1953); his brother, John Scott & wife Louise Scott; his seven children, Gail Scott-Bowling & husband Richard Bowling, Teresa Scott-Brown, B.J. Scott-Pack & husband Harold Pack, Judy Scott-Filipek & husband Robert "Peck" Filipek (1952-2017), Debra "Debbie" Scott-Ayers & husband Gene Ayers, Ricky Scott & wife Debby Scott, and Angela Dawn Scott-Mullins (1978-2020) & husband Jarrod Mullins (Deceased; seventeen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Calvary Assembly of God, 319 Sunset Drive, Beckley, WV on Monday May 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Pastor John Jordan officiating.
Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery at Grandview.
