He was a proud member of the US Naval Reserve where he honorably served as a member of the Rescue Seabees Unit Division 4-13 for 11 years. After several years in the family's business, Mr. Class joined Princeton University's Forrestal Research Center, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), where he was an electrician and worked on cold fusion projects until retirement in 1995. In his spare time, he enjoyed year-round physically active sports: swimming at the Jersey Shore, scuba diving, rock climbing, snow skiing and ice skating at the Princeton University rink.
Constantly striving for more experiences, he took flying lessons at age 80 because he always wanted to learn to fly an airplane. Always the realist, he decided after his initial solo flight, "I shouldn't really be up here by myself."
His thirst to see the world led him and his wife to travel the world after raising children and spending many summers on Long Beach Island, NJ. They went to every continent except Antarctica by guided tour, cruise ships and drove around most of the USA.
Predeceased by his parents, Warren Rodman and Mildred M. (Getz) Class; his brother, Clayton A. Class, and his sister and brother-in-law, Mildred E. (Class) and A. Benjamin Liebel; he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis A. (Gricer) Class; his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. Class and Deborah J. White of Mount Laurel; his daughter and son-in-law, Carla Lynn Perez and her husband, Peter of Cape Coral, FL; his grandson, Kevin G. Class and his mother, Bernadette E. Class, both of Hamilton; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cremation services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Class' memory to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting In Memory Of at inmemof.org. Arrangements are under the direction of the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Saul Colonial Home 3795 Nottingham Way Hamilton Square, NJ 08690 (609) 587-0170
