Sylvia Louise Calkins Maxwell, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011. Beloved mother of Marsha Hall (Denny), Jack Maxwell, Jr., Mark Maxwell and the late Glenn Maxwell. Grandmother of Kim Blackledge, Amy Wiggins (Jeff) and great-grandmother of Peyton, Kyle and Brennan Blackledge and Brandt and Cole Wiggins. Sister of Earline Arender and Lillian Hahn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents: Joseph G. Calkins and Anna Legendre Calkins; siblings: Joseph G. Calkins, Jr., Earl Calkins, Wilburt Calkins, Harold Calkins, and Glenn Calkins; and great-granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Wiggins. Age 85 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Slidell, LA since August 1969.

Mrs. Maxwell was a graduate of Sophie B. Wright High School and Allen Business School. She was a member of the Slidell Newcomers Club and enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, playing bridge, watching tennis and golf.
