Jack Lorin Au France, 90 passed away Monday August 10, 2020 at his residence with friends by his side.

On August 10, 2020, Jack L. Au France passed away in Tulelake, California at the age of 90. Jack was born to Charles and Daisy Au France in grand Rapids, Michigan on May 16, 1930. He graduated from Godwin Heights High School in Grand Rapids, and later, Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Jack also served in a medical unit of the US Air Force, and later in the Air Force Reserves for 6 years. After his military service, Jack worked for several years as a school teacher on the military bases in Germany until the 60s. He would later move to Northern, California working as a history teacher in the Newark Unified School district for many years. After retirement, he continued working as a substitute teacher in Black Butte School District in Shingletown, California and Tulelake Basin Joint Unified in Tulelake, Ca.
Jack lived for over 50 years between Manton and Tulelake, California. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and fine arts.
He is preceded in death by his friend and partner, Roy Waldin, sisters Margaret, Wilma and Elsie, and brothers, Richard and Barney. He is survived by his niece, Shelia Vanderhout, and great niece Donnette Vanderhout and great nephew Wayne Vanderhout, as well as many other nephews and nieces in the State of Michigan.
Jack's ashes will be interred at the Northern California Veteran's Cemetery, near Igo, California.
