John and Matilda Stone. Both natives of New England. John was a successful contractor and builder, after which he followed farming and resided at Portage, Michigan. Came to California in 1865 and located in Green Valley with his son-in-law, William Stone. Mr. Stone died in Green Valley in 1866, and was buried in the Alhambra Cemetery. Mrs. Stone died in 1870, and was buried in the same cemetery.
