Martha Lou Batten Jacobs

Mrs. Martha Lou Batten Jacobs, 90, of Thomasville died late Saturday night at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after an extended illness. She was born in Pierce County to the late John Batten and Annie Powers Batten. Mrs. Jacobs grew up in Blackshear, lived most of her life in Hoboken, before moving to Thomasville close to 40 years ago. She was retired from Joan Arch Mills and was a member of Little Oak Locknee Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Sylvester Jacobs, three children, Jeffrey Stephen Jacobs, Norma Kay McDonald, Linda Sue Walker, one granddaughter, Chrystal Gail Jacobs, two brothers, John Henry Batten, Willie Batten and one sister, Leona Wolford.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by seven children, Betty Jean Taft and her husband Gene of Waycross, Iva Lee Ezelle of Cairo, Rebecca Jacobs of Thomasville, Marilyn Rogers of Brunswick, Robin Denise Poole of Waycross, John Wayne Jacobs of Kingsland, Martha Danice Bohannan and her husband Jason of Nahunta, her grandchildren, Marylou Corbitt, Pauline Taft, Gene Taft II, Jerri Lee Myrick, Pat Griffin, Pam Miller, B.J. Holmes, Susie Cook, Lorretta Henderson, Nancy Holton, Ryan Jacobs, John Jacobs, Talisa Thornton, Maddie Jacobs, Chase Jacobs, Isaiah Jacobs, Ryan Rogers, Angie Gordy, Leston Jacobs, Kirstie Johns, Rena Bohannan, Marsha Swain, Michael Poole, Tommy Poole, Dale Poole, Kyler Poole, Taylor Murray, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren, her lifelong friend, James May and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
