Mattie Rhoden Cornwell Carter and William Neal Carter of Rock Hill celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently with a reception given by their children. They were married Aug. 30, 1933 in York. The have six daughters, Elizabeth Varnadore of Lancaster, Sara Walker of Titusville, Fla, Lois Phillips, Judy Faile, Becky Lewis and Doria Emsermann, all of Rock Hill. They have 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. They are members of Neely's Creek ARP Church. He retired in 1974 from the Bleachery and she retired from the Coca-Cola Co.
"It don't seem like it's been that long," Mattie Carter said of the couple's longevity. "My husband is easygoing, and I do all the talking."
