Brythel Henry Brantly, "Dr B", passed away on August 5, 2020 at the age of ninety-five.

Sergeant Brantly was a decorated United States Marine Corp combat veteran and a member of the USMC Force Recon Hall of Fame. He began his teaching career at Fair Park High School (Shreveport) in 1956 and earned his Doctorate in Educational Administration at Northeast Louisiana University. Already a high school administrator, Dr. Brantly served as Vice President at NLU in Monroe. After retirement and a move to Zachary to be near his family, he served on the pastoral staff at First Baptist. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed travel, watching sports, and teaching Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Penn Leary and Eunice Pair Brantly; a daughter, Joan Brantly Morris; and brothers, Ernest Lee Brantly, Penn Leary Brantly Jr, and Benjamin Franklin Brantly.

He is survived by his wife of seventy-four years, Nellie Marie Schales Brantly, and his daughter, Barbara (Mark) Thompson; three grandchildren, Greg Thompson (Sarah), Melanie Morris Maynor, and Melissa Morris; and three great-grandchildren, Lillian Maynor, Grayson Maynor. and John Gordon Thompson.
