Sallie Leodis Miller Adams Fernandes died April 14, 2010 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was the twelfth child of Hamp and Sarah Emma (Adams) Miller. Her parents, along with her seven brothers, five sisters, and first husband, Charles P. Adams, Jr. and second husband of 64 years, John A. Fernandes, preceded her in death. Survived by one daughter, F. JoAnne Adams (William) Lofton, Omaha, NE; two sons, Charles P. Adams, III, Tuskegee Institute, AL and Michael Ronald Fernandes, Los Angeles, CA; two granddaughters, Dhana Theresa (Joel) Chandler, Omaha, NE., and Nikki (Sean) Simmons, Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jayda and Jordyn Chandler, Omaha, NE, and Andrew and Danielle Simmons, Atlanta, GA; and many loving relatives and dear friends. She donated her body to the University of Alabama Anatomical Donor Program to benefit medical education.
