Born in Hoxbar, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of William A. and Hallie Tommie (Dyer) Byrd. She graduated from the Union Chapel School and married John L. Shannon on Dec. 23, 1928, in Madge. She died at her home in Pittsburg at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two sons, Louis Hudson Shannon and Roy P. Shannon.
