Joseph Alsup "Joe" Tucker was born on October 24, 1881 {NOT October 16, 1878 as listed on his Death Certificate} in Rutherford County, Tennessee, the son of James Harrison Tucker (1844–1920) and Usley Ann Elizabeth (Vinson) Tucker (1846–1926). {While his Death Certificate has his birth date as October 16, 1878, his Delayed Certificate of Birth has it as October 24, 1881.}

He was married about 1915 to Ora Mae Henley (1890-1928), the daughter of Burrel Henley (1861–1923) and Nannie (Swan) Henley (1864–1942).

A farmer living at 3500 Hamilton Road in rural Nashville, Joe was 81 years old and a widower when he died of arteriosclerosis and congestive heart failure on August 25, 1960 at Davidson County Hospital, where he had been for fifteen hours.

Survivors included children Melton Swan Tucker,Elbert F Tucker, Wilbern Tucker and Riggs M Tucker and brother Ollie Beard "O B" Tucker. {Although his obituary listed Tommy Tucker as his child, Tommy was a cousin.}

Burial was two days later in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Molton Tucker of Nashville as the informant, with survivors from his obituary.

Known children of Joe and Ora:
~ Molton Swan Tucker (1916–1994)
~ Elbert "Fowler" Tucker (1919–1995)
