Ree Barrus Erickson age 88, passed away on January 1, 2017. Ree was born on December 8, 1928 to Eldon Russell and Grace Louise Barrus Erickson in Fairview, Wyoming. Ree grew up in Star Valley, Wyoming, and loved to hunt and fish. He worked as a horseback hunting guide for several years. Ree loved to listen to country music and watch Westerns on TV. He was a very creative problem solver and could build or repair just about anything. He served in the Army in France right after WW II servicing airplanes. After marrying his sweetheart, Pat Cotterell, in the Logan LDS Temple, he built a beautiful log cabin, starting with hauling trees out of a canyon by horse to be made into logs! He and Pat, and their children and grandchildren, enjoyed the cabin for 30+ years. Ree graduated from Utah State University and earned a Masters of Industrial Education. He worked at Utah Technical College, which later became Salt Lake Community College, for 17 years as a Professor in Financial math. He was voted the "Outstanding Professor" by both faculty and students. He served faithfully in various capacities in the LDS church, including Scoutmaster, Ward Clerk and most recently, as an indexer, having indexed over 636,000 names. We will dearly miss him, but are comforted to know he is now with his parents and all of his siblings!
Ree is survived by his sweetheart Pat, his children: William Hunter (Laraine), Wendy McAllister (Daniel), Deborah Bowman (Kent), Martha Whitney (Greg), and Pamela West (David), 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Ree is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Marcia Faulhaber, Fayla Hall, Joy Erickson, LaJette Johns and Joyce Wyatt.
Services were held on January 6, 2017, and he was interred at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
