Thelma Eliza Fields Hamm died Thursday, April 26, 2001 in Spartanburg, SC. She was born in 1908 to the late Creswell and Cora Hatchell Fields in Lydia, SC, but lived in Jacksonville for 59 years before returning to Spartanburg in 1991. Mrs. Hamm worked as a secretary for the City of Jacksonville Public Works Department until her retirement in 1970 and was a member of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, McIver W. Hamm, her daughter, Frances M. Bayless, and her brothers, Claude H. and Hoyt M. Fields. Survivors include her daughter and soninlaw, Winifred Winnie H. and Jason R. Huffmaster of Duncan, SC, two sisters, Eunice F. Stephens of Bowling Green, KY and Maggie F. Bryant of Florence, SC, a soninlaw, Paul I. Bayless of St. George, GA, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one stepgrandchild. Dr. Herb M. Reavis, Jr. will lead Funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday, April 30, 2001 in North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 Main St. The family will receive friends prior to the services from 1011:00 AM in the church and burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the Building Fund of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. Arrangements by HardageGiddens Main Street Chapel.
