Kenneth R. Durham Sr.

GREENVILLE, SC - Kenneth R. Durham Sr., Greenville, died Oct. 30, 2000, at his residence.

Born Jan. 18, 1923 in Columbus, Texas, he was a son of the late Edmund Meadows and Jessie Baker Durham.

Mr. Durham was founder and owner of D&B Glass Inc. and a member of Northeast Church of Christ. He had served as an Elder for more than 35 years in Churches of Christ in Odessa, TX, Charlotte, NC, Greensboro, NC and Greenville, and was also a Bible Study Leader. He served on the Advisory Board of Abilene Christian University, Abilene, TX, and was on the Founding Board of Southeastern Children's Home, Duncan. Mr. Durham was active in the production of the Greenville Singing Christmas Tree, District Governor of Toastmaster's International, and a member of Downtown Rotary Club for 35 years. He was also a member and officer of C.S.I. and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Meixner Durham of the home; a daughter, Janet D. Kidd and her husband, Tedd J. Kidd, of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Dr. Kenneth R. Durham Jr. of Agoura Hills, CA, and Alan E. Durham and his wife, Kelli Gil Durham, of Houston, TX; a sister, Violet Durham Asher of Houston, TX; two brothers, Earl Durham of Abilene and Paul S. Durham of Houston; one graddaughter, Jennifer Durham of Malibu, CA; and three grandsons, Gabriel Durham of Agoura Hills, CA, Christopher Durham of College Station, TX and Jonathan Durham of Houston, TX. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor L. Durham of Houston, TX.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Northeast Church of Christ, 3506 Edwards Road, Taylors, by Minister Jeff Payne.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Southeaster Children's Home, Post Office Box 339, Duncan, SC 29334- Woodlawn Funeral Home.
