Calvin J. Skeen, aged 70 years, died Tuesday night at the Smith rooming house. The old gentleman’s home was at Walnut Grove. He was a sufferer from stomach trouble and had been to Utica, Kan., for his health. He started home Tuesday, accompanied by V.H. Killingsworth. Mr. Skeen became so ill on the train that his companion thought it best to stop over at Monett and they went to Miss Artie Smith’s rooming house, where the sick man passed away.
Mr. Killingsworth departed with the body Wednesday afternoon, for Walnut Grove, where interment will be made. The deceased is reported to have been in good financial circumstances.
