Walter E. Copenhaver, 98, of Galesville died at 9:40 am Tuesday, February 20, 1987 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. Funeral services were held Friday at the Galesville United Methodist Church. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery.
He was born May 27, 1888 in Brown Co. Indiana, s/o Henry W. and Sarah Starr Copenhaver. He married Florence Pryke on August 16, 1911 at Galesville. She died February 11, 1956. Survivors include two daughters: Lulu Copenhaver of Galesville; and Atha Tabor of Mt. Clemens Michigan; three grandsons and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters.
He farmed the Harris farm in Galesville for 49 years before retiring in 1957. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for 78 years. Memorials may be made to the church.
