William S Applegate Jr., 86, of Neptune, NJ, went to be with the good Lord on Thursday November 28, 2013. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after courageously fighting a long term illness. He was born in Asbury Park and was lifetime resident of the Shore area. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hugh J. Pervis DD709 during WW II. William was fond if square dancing, fishing, and loved the Ocean. He was a member of his Local Mason Lodge and was a former Leader with The Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife were also proud foster parents to many young children over the years.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Stanley, his brother Harold and his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia. Surving and well loved by his daughters Patricia Solomito, Barbara Applegate and son William, 2 granddaughters Jenny(Steve) and Becky (Nathaniel), 3 great grandsons Elijah, Stephen, and Tyler. Additionally, we would like to acknowledge his long time friend Stephie Boursiquot, who worked for him for 2 years and becoming part if the family. He will be greatly missed by all. Lastly we would like to acknowledge the Neptune Police and First Aid for their support and help.

Funeral from Johnson McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Hwy. 138, Wall, NJ, 07719 on Monday. Chapel Service at 12pm. Followed by an Internment at Monmouth Memorial Park. Friends will be recieved on Monday from 10 am to 12pm only.
