Izzy was born and registered in Indiana, in March of 2008, and purchased/adopted by the Stitt family in May of that year, at about 7 weeks old; a beautiful full-bred Black Labrador Retriever.

She was ''ball driven" and loved to run, chasing tennis balls until she would drop. We discovered that she had Hip Dysplasia, and Exercise-Induced Collapse. Her training as a hunting dog was discontinued, but her value within the family continued to increase daily.

Izzy had a sweet temperament, and loved to be included in every type of activity; camping, fishing, grandkids playing in the yard, basically anything and everything. She stuck like glue to her people, whether they were watching tv, doing dishes, or working in the yard. She liked to stay within touching distance, and lay on the floor with her sweet head on someone's foot, rather than in her own bed.

In the last half of her life, it was determined that she had an in-operable cancerous growth on her hip; Soft Tissue Sarcoma. It started out as a small bump the size of a marble, but over time became very large, with about 1/3 of the growth under her muscles and tendons. The only options were to treat with radiation, which might give her an extra year but miserable side effects, or to let it be.

We chose for her to live out the remainder of her life as naturally as possible, and she still engaged in activity with family, showing joy in everyday moments, eating, sleeping, and living her best life, for another 6 years after the diagnosis. In 2020, she started to slow down dramatically, sleeping most of her days away, and no longer active unless she had to be. The time was soon approaching that we would have to let her go. On August 7th it was obvious that her time on earth was done, and sadly that goodbyes were needed. She spent her last morning, on August 8th 2020, walking in her yard, resting in the grass, looking as if she were saying her goodbyes too.

Missing Izzy is her human family; Mike and Linda, their daughters, Melissa, Michelle, and Jessica, and their grandchildren, as well as many other family members that knew and loved her.

Izzy had a quiet but sweet burial, with her grown up family members, as they all placed tennis balls touched with a kiss, into her grave.
