Brian R. Leathers, 60, of Grove Hill, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Kenitra, Morocco in Africa on February 4, 1960, to Pedro Philip Leathers and Joanne G. Hightower Leathers. His Christian faith was of utmost importance to him and guided his actions. His love for God, his family, and his church was evident in his daily life. He was active in numerous civic and community organizations, including the Downtown Mobile Alliance, Clarke County Development Foundation as a former board member and founding chairman, Leadership Clarke County as a former board member and president, Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, as a former board member, secretary, treasurer and two-term president, United Way of Clarke County as a former board member, secretary, treasurer and chairman, Lions Club as a former member, secretary, treasurer and president, Grove Hill Baptist Church as a member, Sunday School teacher and deacon and had earned an Eagle Scout designation with the Boy Scouts of America.

He had been employed in various executive positions with a number of large companies including Austal USA, and at the time of his death, was Chief Financial Officer of Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of West Florida, where he earned a B.A. in Accounting, the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, and Troy University, where he earned his Executive Masters in Business Administration.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother; wife, Gayle Lorraine Leathers; daughter, Keller Monet Leathers (Steven Grey) Davis; brother, Mitchell Lee (Rhonda) Leathers and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Grove Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Bedsole and Drs. Steve Furr, Randy Boone and Randy Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Thomasville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Larry Bagley, Jimmy Barnes, Dr. Glen Bridges, Grey Davis, Donal Dunagan and John Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Becton Sunday School Class, Pat Dunagan, Inez Beek and Phyllis Barnes.
