Mr. James Hubert Adams, age 90, of Barnesville, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at his residence. A Barnesville native, Mr. Adams was the son of the late Mr. William Jerry Adams and the late Mrs. Ettie Jones Adams. He resided in Barnesville all of his life and was active in the community, working with the Chamber of Commerce and the Barnesville Housing Authority. He was a Farmer and Cattleman. Mr. Adams was a Charter Member of the Barnesville Kiwanis Club and received the Legion of Honor Award in 2001 for his service to the club. He was a WWII Veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Vivian Poulnot Adams.
Survivors include: A Son and Daughter-in-law - Jim & Carol Adams of Barnesville ; 2 Daughters and Sons-in-law - Deirdre & Bill Reoch of Milledgeville ; & Lanira & Don Holmes of Barnesville ; A Sister - Mary Hunt of Birmingham, AL ; & A Brother - Bill Adams of Columbus ; 6 Grandchildren ; 3 Great Grandchildren ; & Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. James Hubert Adams will be conducted Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11 O' Clock in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Rev. Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends here at the funeral home Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 5pm until 7pm.
