Wasilla resident HAROLD ALLEN SR., 60, died of brain cancer Nov. 7, 2001, at home with family members by his side. Memorial services were held at Lazy Mountain Bible Church in Palmer. A gathering of relatives and friends followed at Crossroads Community Center in Palmer. Burial was this spring at Valley Memorial Park in Palmer.

Mr. Allen was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Corry, Pa. He graduated from Deer Park High School in Texas. He attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and SMU in Missouri. Mr. Allen moved to Alaska in 1976 to work for BP. After retiring as a supervisor from BP, he worked for Udelhoven Oilfield Services and Alaska Petroleum Contractors and was employed by Veco Alaska at the Port of Anchorage on the Northstar project at the time of his death. During earlier years, he was employed by Monsanto and Union Carbide in Texas.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Myrtle Allen of Wasilla; mother, Marilynn Allen; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Yen Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jim Nieboer, all of Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Theiss and Sandy and Johnnie Pitchford, all of Missouri; mother-in-law, Georgia White of Texas; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Neal Allen; daughter, Donna Kraybill; and granddaughter, Breanna Woellmer. Remembrances may go to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Mat-Su. Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
