Muriel Ann (Smith) Jones, age 71, of Camarillo, CA. went home to be with the Lord May 14th, 2015. She was born on September 14th, 1943 in Oberlin, KS.
She was the oldest child of the late Dean Coulter Smith and Gertrude Dolores (Woodside) Smith.
She lived her early years in Forest Grove, OR with her siblings Harold, Jerry and Kevin. She later
moved to Salinas, CA where she graduated from North Salinas High School and attended college. It was in Salinas where she met the love of her life, Frank Jones. They were married on January 6th,1968, and to this union three children were born, Sherri, Deenna and Marc. Frank and Muriel moved to Ohio in 1979 and then to Des Moines, Iowa along with their lifelong friend Bud Piearcy. They retired to Green Forest, AR, 15 years ago. They built their dream home and enjoyed many years living on Table Rock Lake and spending time with family and friends. After Frank’s death in 2011, Muriel moved to Camarillo, CA, where she lived with her daughter
Sherri and her family. She enjoyed being a part of Sherri’s big family and running around town on her scooter in the California sunshine. Despite her declining health, she continued to live life to the fullest. Through the years Muriel worked as a dedicated homemaker and child care provider. Her professional career included positions at Firestone Tire and Rubber, Metropolitan
Life and the Principal Financial Group. She was eager to give to the community and also volunteered at the zoo and the library. Throughout her adult life Muriel was the principal caregiver for her brother Jerry. Muriel and Frank hosted three exchange students while in Ohio,
Christian (Germany), Marcus (Brazil) and Luigi (Ecuador).
Muriel engaged in a variety of arts and crafts. She cared for wounded animals and was known as the neighborhood vet. She was an avid reader and cook. She loved dancing with Frank and for several years square danced regularly. Frank and Muriel attended Ozark Mountain
Community Church together. Muriel relied on her strong faith after losing her lifelong love, Frank. Later in life, much of her joy came from simply being with her family and being a loving grandmother. Throughout her life Muriel has been a dedicated and loving daughter, sister,
mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed deeply and her love and dedication will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sherri and Deenna Baer and son, Marc; brother, Jerry
; 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
