William "Bill" was married to Lena Ellis Hough. Bill was known for his "Hough" temper. In addition to his temper problem, he also liked to drink. One night when Bill was drinking in Nowata, OK, his friend Buck George who also served as sheriff, tried to get him to go home and "sleep it off." Well, a fight out between them. Bill fell and broke his neck during the fight. He died at age forty leaving his wife Lena all these little children to raise.
