Lella was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 3, 1921 and died January 7, 2017 in Tyler. She was the daughter of Albert and Malinda Lynn Jane Ferguson Stepken.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Albert and Lynn Stepken, and her husband Joe Austin.A celebration of the life of Lella Frances Stepken Austin, age 95, will be held in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Tyler, Texas, on January 11, 2017 at 2:30. Lella was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 3, 1921 and died January 7, 2017 in Tyler. She was the daughter of Albert and Lynn Ferguson Stepken. Most of her young life was spent living in Weatherford, Texas. Graduate of Weatherford High School 1939. She married her husband Joe Austin in 1944. They moved to Tyler in 1946 where they continued to live except for 7 years living in Center Point, Texas. Lella retired as office manager at the YMCA where she worked for 16 years. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling in every state in the U.S. She enjoyed playing Mah Jongg, Hand & Foot, and gardening.
