Clifton Leroy Richens, age 89, of Vernal, passed away on August 9, 2020 at Ashley Regional Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1930 in Vernal, Utah to Vern and Melvina Thompson Richens. He was a graduated from Uintah High School. Clifton joined the Army as a Private1 for AUS Information. He served in the Koren War and received Korean Service Metal / 2Bss, United Nation Service and medal and combat infantry badge. in the Org Res Corps and was Honorably discharged. He married his sweetheart Joyce Green they were later sealed in the LDS Temple. Clifton was a handy man his occupation was a carpenter, and Lumberjack man. Clifton participated in the “Meeting the Challenge” through 8th District Juvenile Court. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint. He enjoyed researching genealogy and helping other LDS Members do theirs. He served in many church callings including, he was ordained a High Priest, home teacher, giving many blessings and contributed to boy’s town father Flanagan’s Boys Home.

He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, playing horse shoes, dancing, singing and sports, but most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Laurie (Dave) Horrocks; Norma (Harvey) Childers; Clinton (Debbie) Richens; Janet (Tony) Mele; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; brother, Merlin and sister, Carol Ebeling. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, sons, Rick & Ray Richens; granddaughter, Heather Richens; parents, siblings, Vern, Harold, Vernon, Grant, and Merlin, Hazel, Lila, Stelia, Violet, Nila, Mable, Orbie



Viewing Thursday, August 13, 2020 evening from 5-8 PM at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Graveside Services Friday, August 14, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
