Robert H. Thibodeaux Sr., 95, of Niles, died Sunday August 2, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Robert was born December 28, 1924 in Branch, LA, the son of (the late) Philogen & Azamie (Fruge) Thibodeaux. Robert was a WWII veteran and proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. In 1949, he married Betty J. (McGrew) Thibodeaux; she preceded him in death in 2010 after 60 years of marriage. Robert retired from Bendix Corp. after 38 years there and was a member of (the former) River Park Tabernacle Church, now Michiana Community Church and was an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed Bible studies. Robert was also a member of AmVets (American Veterans) and he enjoyed the time he spent with family & friends. In addition to Betty, Robert was also preceded in death by an infant son, Darrell; a daughter, Jean Krueger; brothers, Cliff Douch, Joe Douch and Jim Thibodeaux and his sisters, Willabelle Peridon & Beatrice Martin. Robert is survived by his son, Robert H. (Carolyn) Thibodeaux, Jr. of Niles; his daughters, Gloria Tesch of Stoneville NC and Cathy Thibodeaux of Niles; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services 2:00 Saturday August 8, 2020 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Visitation is Saturday from 1-2pm in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family’s preferred memorial is AmVets, 2627 S 11th St, Niles, MI 49120.
