John Lacy Whyte

Shreveport, La. - Graveside services for John Lacy Whyte, age 95, will be held Monday, May 24, at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. James Van Hook, pastor of Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church, where Mr. Whyte was a member.

Mr. Whyte was born in *Basic City, Virginia and had lived in Shreveport since 1929. He was affiliated with Southern Bell Telephone Company for 18 years, he was an independent fuel dealer, and owned and operated a general store for many years at Forbing, La.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Dixon Whyte, one son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Edna Whyte, all of Shreveport, two daughters and son-in-law, Edith Baker of Baltimore, Maryland, Carolyn and Clanton Crawford of Devil's Hill, North Carolina, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Wilburn, John E. Fletcher, Roger Pender, C. E. Woodruff, Milton E. Mitchell and Keith Tabberer.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church.

Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, May 23, 1993.
