A native of Asheville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Lottie Miller Stewart.
She had been a Peninsula resident since 1957.
Nora was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ray W. Ballard Sr.
Mrs. Ballard is survived by her two sons, Ray and wife, Sharan, and Edward and wife, Deborah; her grandchildren, Rachel Vogeley and husband, Kevin, Matthew Ballard, Brooke Elliott and husband, Timmy, Jacob Ballard and wife, Elizabeth, Sarah Ballard; and great-grandchildren, Claire Spitzer, Emily Elliott and Nathan Ballard. She is also survived by two sisters, Pauline Wise of Oklahoma and Dessie Jones of North Carolina. Nora had been a member of Langley Baptist Church since 1964. She was involved in the WMU, The Joy Club, The Choir and the Fideles Sunday School Class.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Langley Baptist Church by Dr. William Duke and the Rev. Judson Nuckols with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
