Marilyn Jane Mull passed away suddenly on Sunday night, June 15, at her home in the Niles District of Fremont. She was 77. Marilyn was born on February 16, 1937 in Edwardsville, IL, but grew up in west Texas and western Colorado. She graduated from the University of Redlands in 1959 with a BA in Education and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Vallejo. She taught on a US Air Force Base at Augsburg, Germany from 1963 to 1965 and returned to the Bay Area in 1966. She then taught in the Hayward elementary schools until she retired in 1991.

Marilyn joined the Presbyterian Church of Hayward in 1967, and regularly sang in the choir there until the day she died. She also sang with other local musical groups. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing the piano, and the love of her 2 little dachshunds. She met regularly with close friends who joined her for local travel, bird watching, the San Francisco opera, and holiday occasions. Some also joined her on a number of tours in the United States and abroad.

Marilyn is survived by her brother, Charles G. (Gil) Mull of Sante Fe, NM; niece Christina Beckmann of San Francisco; nephew David Mull of Salt Lake City, UT; and 3 great nephews. She was laid to rest next to her parents at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael on June 23rd. A memorial service was held on June 25 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hayward.
