The son of Sipke "Sam Dykstra" Dijkstra and Rinske "Rose" van de Lune. A farmer, he emigrated from the Netherlands 1920 at age 25 aboard the Rijndam with stated destination of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

In 1927 at Morrison, he married Edna Westerhof. They raised 4 children: Lorraine, Wesley, Cecil, and Charles.

Mr Dykstra passed way at Mercy Hospital of Clinton, Iowa, 30 Sep 1984.
