A New Yorker of Irish descent, Genevieve Mary Coyne (nee Haveron) was a proud resident of the Bronx and lived on the Grand Concourse.

Genevieve had six sisters --- Dorothy (who bought the cemetery plot when their mother died), Irene, Madeline, Anna Marie, Veronica, and baby Gertie. Although Genevieve loved all of her sisters dearly, she was especially close to Dorothy (known as Dottie) who moved in with Genevieve after Genevieve's husband William (known as Bill) died in the late 1930s from a brain tumor. Genevieve's children, who were only 6 years old and 4 years old when their father died, loved their Aunt Dottie. Genevieve's children were Patricia (Pat) Coyne Wallace (1932-1994), who had five children and eleven grandchildren, and Richard William Coyne (1934-1998), who had four children and three grandchildren.

When Dottie died in 1971, Genevieve continued living in their Grand Concourse apartment. She spent much of her time strolling the Grand Concourse, attending mass at St. Philip Neri Church, and visiting with her sisters Irene and Madeline, her cousin Lily, and her friends Mr. Dickie, Mary McMann, and Catherine. Her son Richard and his family, who at that time lived nearby on Long Island, were also frequent visitors. She traveled often to Maryland to visit her daughter Patricia and her family. In the 1980s, Genevieve, whose life was her children, moved to Maryland to live out the remainder of her years with her daughter Pat (a much-loved resident of Bowie, Maryland, for many years until her death) and her son Richard (a resident of Washington, DC; and, at the time of his death, Houston, TX).

Genevieve's final resting place is her beloved New York, where she is buried with her husband William Patrick Coyne, her mother Anne Haveron, and her sisters Anna Marie and Dorothy Cecelia Haveron.
