George was a long-time barber in the Village of Palatine. At first, he plied his trade in the rear of the old Masonic Lodge, now the Lamplighter Inn. In 1893 he moved his shop to a building he erected on Slade St. In 1907 George closed his shop for four days to visit his sister Catherine (Kuebler)Will in Louisville. It was his first visit to his "home town" in 21 years.
George married Louise "Lizzie" Gieseke 4 March 1884. They had two daughters, May (Mrs. Charles) Wente, and Hattie R. Kuebler. Only two of his five grandchildren were mentioned in his obituary: Ward and Marcella Wente.
George's daughter Maud I. (a.k.a Etta R.)was not mentioned in his obituary. She had married Frank J. Lamb in 1901 and had three children: Wanda M., Muriel Ruth, and Miriam Lamb.
