Death of Mrs. Shriner

Mrs. Malinda Shriner, of Alda, passed away at her home about 7:30 o'clock last evening after a lingering illness, death resulting from paralysis. The deceased was born August 8, 1840, and was 78 years of age. Besides her bereaved husband, she is survived by a number of children. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home in Alda, and interment will be made in the Alda cemetery.

OBITUARY

Malinda Exline, daughter of Isaac and Margeria Exline, was born on August 8, 1840, where she grew to womanhood. On April 12th, 1862, she was united in marriage to J. W. Shriner. To this union were born eleven children, of whom ten are living as follows: Mrs. G. L. Oxford, of Alda, Neb.; Mrs. J. R. Smith, of Grand Island, Neb.; Mrs. Jas. Tatlow, of Ord, Neb.; Mrs. Sarah Highland, of Butte Creek, Mont.; Mrs. Theo. Moll of Grand Island; Mrs. E. L. Gilson, of Butte Creek, Mont.; Ed E Shriner, of Butte Creek, Mont.; J. D. Shriner, of Alda; C. P. Shriner, of Alda, and W. S. Shriner, of Thedford, Neb. In 1865 they emigrated to Illinois where they resided for two years. They next moved to Iowa in 1867 where they resided eleven years. In 1878 they moved to Nebraska, where they have resided for forty years being residents of Alda for the past eight years. Mrs. Shriner has been a member of the Methodist church since 1873, being a constant member for forty-five years. She was taken sick July 13, 1918, being bedfast four months and five days, having all of the loving care of her children and husband constantly to the end. She passed away on November 18, 1918. Her husband, four sons and four daughters being at her bedside, one daughter in Montana being unable to be present. Besides her immediate family, she leaves thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The community extends to the family their heartfelt sympathy in this their hour of sorrow.

ALDA HAS THIRD GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Shriner The Honored Couple

. . .Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Shriner, who were united in the holy bonds of wedlock. . . on April 12, 1862, at Bulin, Ohio. . . J. W. Shriner was the son of John Shriner, a highly respected farmer of Venton County, Ohio, at which place Mr. Shriner was born in 1840. Mrs. Shriner was the daughter of wealthy parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Exline, of Jackson County, Ohio, at which place Mrs. Shriner was born in 1842. Both were comparatively young when married and after and union moved to Venton County, Ohio, in 1863. In 1865 they left Venton County and moved to Clay County, Illinois. In 1870 they continued westward and located in Jasper County, Iowa, from which place they journeyed to the state of Nebraska and settled in Hamilton County in 1878, and at the present time are living in a cozy cottage in Alda. In the progress of years, the following children were born to their union: Mrs. Amy Smith of Kansas; Mrs. Margaret Oxford, of Grand Island; Mrs. Ellen Tatlon, of Lord (sic), Nebraska: Mrs. Sadie Highland, of Cameron' E. B. Shriner, of this city; J. D. Shriner, of Alda; Mrs. Daisy Moll, of this city; Mrs. Lottie Gilson, of this city; N. S. Shriner, of Alda. Mr. and Mrs. Shriner are also the proud grandparents of thirty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. . .
