In 1923, at the age of 18, she married Clifford Otto Wiley in her grey satin button down wedding dress made by her sister Lucile. To this union, one son, Delno Lee Wiley, was born. Fern lived all but a couple of her first married years southeast of Ridgeway in the Prairie Chapel area, where Clifford and she made their home and attended church. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Texas each year and returning in the spring. They spent their summers selling fruits and vegetables making many fond acquaintances over the years. Fern was well known for her homemade candies and made-from-scratch good old home cooked meals. Fern cooked very large meals everyday for family and friends, and farm hands. She always had a big glass of iced tea for anyone that stopped by. Her great grandchildren would ride their bikes to Granny's" everyday, as she always kept Pepsi and Snickers for them.

Survivors include Grandsons, Mark (Becky) Wiley, Ridgeway, MO and Paul Wiley, Liberty, MO; Daughter-in-law, Bedonna Wiley, Kearney, MO; Great-Grandchildren, Ryan Wiley, Jeff (Kayla) Wiley and Beth Wiley; Great-Great-Granddaughter, Lilllyann Grace; Nephews, Vernon Price, Lyle Foster and Lynn Foster.
