Mrs. Abernathy was born January 5, 1914 in Burke County to William A. "Judge' and Julia Etta VanHorn Carswell.
Kim was a member of Valdese First United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW. She loved her Lord and was concerned about the salvation of others. Kim loved life and had a special love for her family and friends.
She worked at the Alba-Waldensian , Corbett Hoisery Mill and retired as receptionist at Valdese General Hospital.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Worth Abernathy, Sr. in November of 1962.
Burial: Burke Memorial Park.
