United States Army, in the first contingent to leave Sunbury, Pennsylvania during World War II. Attached to the Military Police and Quartermaster's corps while serving three years in Australia and the South Pacific. Achieved the rank of T/Sgt.

F. C. Grugan, County Native
Francis C. Grugan, 61, of Harrisburg died Monday at Polyclinic Hospital. He was a native of Northumberland County.
He was a watchmaker, a veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 1001, Harrisburg.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret S. Grugan; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Whitnight of Bloomsburg RD1 and Mrs. Jane Werner of Adelphi, Md; a sister, Mrs. Herbert Long of Sunbury; and three brothers, Sidney and Robert, both of Sunbury and Russell of Selinsgrove; and two granddaughters.
Requiem Mass will be sung Friday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Harrisburg. The Rev. Daniel J. Menniti will be celebrant. Burial will be in Millerstown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home at 1334 N. Second St., Harrisburg on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
