Robert Henry Jenkins Sr., 88, of Interlachen, passed away Feb. 8, 2011 at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville.
He was born on April 29, 1922 in Edgar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie Mae Jenkins; his son, Robert H. Jenkins Jr. (PFC of the United States Marines); daughter, Barbara Jenkins; brothers, Buddy, Jerry and Frank Jenkins; and a sister.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his loving children, Ruby Jenkins (Charles Smith), James Jenkins (Yolanda Brown), Rosalind Guthrie (Urban Guthrie Sr.), Veronica Reaves (Dennis Robertson); 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today at the E.W. Lawson & Son Chapel from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Bethel A.M.E. Church of Interlachen, with the Rev. Emory Howard presiding and the Rev. Ostine Moore officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the E. W. Lawson & Son Funeral Home.
