Services held for Joe H. Byrd, Winona merchant

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. for Joe House Byrd, a long-time Winona merchant. Mr. Byrd died last Friday at the Veteran's Hospital in Jackson. He was 57 years old.

A native of Holmes County, he had operated Byrd's Cash Grocery on Front Street for the past nineteen years. He was member of Moore Memorial Methodist Church.

Services were held at Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Grisham and John Green officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Lee Funeral Home in charge.

In addition to his wife, the former Louise Baker, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Amy B. Roy of Oxford; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Stokes, Durant, Mrs. T. D. Pace, Sr., Jackson, Mrs. Annie Ethel Booth, Acona; and one grandchild, Kimberly Roy.

Pallbearers were B. F. Townsend, Floyd Austin, Sandy Land, Clyde Dotson, Dillard Biggers, and Reese Carson.
