Ethel Elizabeth Blatchley, 95, of Jonesville, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. She was born January 27, 1925 in Allen to Richard and Phoebe (Brazee) Hamilton. Ethel married Robert Blatchley on October 6, 1945 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2001.
Ethel graduated from Allen High School as Salutatorian in 1943. She worked as a cook for Jonesville Community Schools for 25 years. Ethel was an active member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church. She loved cooking and entertaining, gardening, canning, journaling and attending sporting events.
Survivors include three children, Terry Blatchley of Hillsdale, Joel (Starla) Blatchley of Arkansas and Tami Fowler of Reading; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; daughter-in-law, Lynda Blatchley and son-in-law, Gary Hepker.
Funeral services for Ethel Blatchley will take place Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Sweet officiating. Attendance in the church is limited to 50 people and a livestream of the service will be available on the Jonesville United Methodist Church Facebook page. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends for visitation with social distancing on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Masks are required for all indoor gatherings.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jonesville United Methodist Church.
