Reverend Henry Lee Hawkins was the pastor of several Free Will Baptist churches in southern Ohio, the last of which was Porter Free Will Baptist. He was married to Eva Frances Bell with whom he had five children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and counting. He also built many homes and churches in the area and was a skilled craftsman who made many beautiful clocks and pieces of furniture in his later years. His other hobby was gardening, and he had prize-winning roses all around his yard.
