Gerhard William Daum, 88, of 504 Linden, died at 12:35 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in Heartland of Bellefontaine.

A retired truck driver for the New York and Penn Central railroads from 1941 to 1975, he was a 50-year member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. He was confirmed at the Old German Settlement Lutheran Church in rural Marysville.

He was born on March 3, 1910, in Marysville, a son of George P. and Margaret Streng Daum. He married Mary Florence Marshall in Paris, Ky., on Aug. 22, 1932. She died Sept. 13, 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Charlotte) Dille of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren, Rodney Daum of Bellefontaine, Randall Daum of Sidney, Terry Daum of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Mark (Twila) Aldo of Columbus and Andrea Dille of Austin, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Manuel Daum, Earnest Daum and Harold Daum, all of Marysville, and Ray Daum of Hilliard; and three sisters, Clara Baltz of Reynoldsburg, Mary Mabe of Columbus and Katherine Heath of California.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Daum, and siblings, Lena, Leonard, George and two infant sisters.
