BROOKS, Harold Ball, born 26-03-1897, Jersey County, Illinois, died 17-03-1959, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. Harold Ball Brooks, 60 yrs, 11 mo, 21 days, City Clerk of Jerseyville for 25 yrs, died March 17, following an illness which extended over a period of months. Prior to becoming city clerk was a teacher in rural schools of Jersey county. The decedent was born in Jersey County, March 26, 1897, a son of Clara (Benson) Brooks and the late Fred L. Brooks. Surviving are his 88 yr old mother; his wife, Minnie Brooks; 3 sisters, Mrs. George Dugan, Jerseyville, Mrs. W G. Buhrer, Wichita, KS, and Mrs James Hortin, Washington DC; 2 brothers, Lynn B Brooks, Jerseyville and Arthur M. Brooks of Alton, and 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Don Bonnaker of Eureka, Mo. Visitation and services were held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev Earl Dickey, pastor of First Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery.
